Bear River, known as “The Historic Village on Stilts” is a haven of idyllic beauty. Its picturesque hills overlooking
the dramatic tidal river and quaint little village built on stilts over the river attract artists from all over the world
and is home to many artisans and interesting galleries. This scenic area has also been compared to the south
of France and has recently been gaining recognition for its vineyards. Vineyard Haven is named in part for the
tranquil view of the valley that also overlooks the Bear River Vineyards, which is open daily for wine tasting and tours through September 31st.
In addition to wonderful comfort, award winning food, fantastic wine, and beautiful views, Vineyard Haven’s waterfront trails on
Bear River are the perfect place to take refuge from the world. Enjoy a peaceful retreat with a Vineyard Haven picnic along the
banks of the river. Relax and unwind with the soothing sound of the streams cascading down through the hillside. Spend some
time fishing for Striped Bass or exploring the miles of trails along the dramatic tidal river. The area is abundant with wildlife;
bald eagles, deer, fox, and pheasants who have taken up residence in the vineyard, and a host of songbirds, who joyously make this their home.
Feel free to bring your paint & canvases, fishing gear, kayaks or canoes. We are enthusiastic about sharing the magic of this special place.
